Every supervisor sometimes faces a particularly difficult supervisory situation: we hope that some of the information in this toolkit will help you overcome these challenges. In these documents, we refer to provisionally registered individuals who are preparing for the National Physiotherapy Proficiency Test (PCE). But the guidelines and resources apply equally to all surveillance situations. In fact, since the focus is on supervision rather than physiotherapy, you might even find that they apply beyond the profession in any situation where one person is responsible for overseeing the development of another. They also apply when the relationship is mentoring rather than supervision: we cannot stress enough the importance of the mentoring role in helping new fully enrolled physiotherapists thrive in this profession. The following documents must be submitted to the CPTBC in order for the supervisory relationship [acting declarant + supervisor] to be approved. The course content includes links to additional materials that can be used as useful resources to strengthen the relationship and supervisory experience. A provisionally registered person may practice physiotherapy under the supervision of a duly registered physiotherapist in British Columbia.
An interim physiotherapist may use the title of Interim Physiotherapist, Interim Physiotherapist, Registered Interim Physiotherapist or Registered Interim Physiotherapist. The CPTBC wishes to clarify the requirements to become and remain an interim registrant. In British Columbia (BC), new applicants can apply for preliminary approval prior to writing or clinical trial. This is unique to British Columbia because in other Canadian jurisdictions, candidates must have passed the written exam before receiving preliminary or preliminary approval. The conditions for provisional approval are laid down in the Statutes of the CPTBC [ยง 44 para. 1]. In addition to the general requirements for obtaining approval, the articles contain expiry provisions. An authorisation shall be revoked 15 months after the date of issue or 7 days after notification of an unsuccessful attempt at a written or clinical trial.
The Registration Committee has a duty to administer these laws and to make decisions that are fair, consistent and in the public interest. Failure to provide the written or clinical component of the PCE will result in the cancellation of preliminary registration within 7 days of receipt of the examination results by the College. 6. Provisional registrants whose approval has already been cancelled will not be able to practice physiotherapy until they have successfully completed their ECP, applied for and received full registration. These requests, including the monitoring agreement, must come from the interim TA, not from the employer or supervisor.

Applicants who have been registered with a regulatory authority (health and/or non-health) within the last 10 years must complete a regulatory history form: The College of Physiotherapists of British Columbia wishes to note that interim approvals1 that expire before May 31, 2021 will be renewed until the results of the next available review have been published. The College expects interim registrants to take the next available exam offered to them by the CAPR. If this is not the case, the registration will be cancelled.
